It’s on every detectorists bucket list, the very elusive Gold Sovereign. Well at last Sunday’s club meeting, Graham Ward, our treasurer found 2 of the golden beauties!!
After finding the first one Graham called us over and as we were admiring the Sovereign he thought there may be another one in there. So with most of us watching on in anticipation and Marvin filming, Graham dug down further to reveal another Gold Sovereign, we were all so excited and jumping around high fiving each other…Its an experience I will never forget. What a thrill to see not one, but two Gold Sovereigns come out of the ground. Congratulations again to Graham.
There were also quite a few other coins found by members on the day, being Pennys, Shillings, Sixpences and even an old Token, one of the coins dating back to 1816. But the day belonged to Graham and the golden pair of 1861 Australian Sydney Minted Sovereigns.
