Trevor Emerson…2019 Metal Detecting World Champion

We are very proud to say we have a World Metal Detecting Champion in our club. Trevor Emerson became the first ever World Metal Detecting Champion last weekend at the inaugural Championships held near Gympie in Queensland. I have to say a big thanks to Justin Cleghorn for organising such a massive event, what a huge effort to get something like this off the ground, fantastic job Justin.

Here is what Andrew Mason, our Club Vice President had to say after he arrived home from the Metal Detecting World Championship, I think this says it all…

“What a day at the Metal Detecting World Championship!! Unbelievable!! Makes me so proud to be a member of the CQDETECTORISTS for the way the guys pulled together to smash the competition out of the park. Thank you so much for giving it 1000% Beth, Kym, Leeann and especially Brett for standing out in the sun all day and getting it done. Also Brendon for representing in a different way with now 2 songs on the repitare. Trevor Emerson has won the World Metal Detecting Championship, he is a member as well. The event organiser, Justin Cleghorn is a club member! For a little hobby club in the Central Queensland area, to have so much impact on the International stage, I have no words. Deeply humbled, proud as punch, and guys, we worked our butts off Well Done!!”

Here is some video footage of the Metal Detecting World Championship and Leeann Middleton-Fisher’s fantastic relic display. Justin from Lost Treasurers has another awesome video from the Championship here

Have fun, happy hunting…
